Country Cuts Quality Meat is produced at Bridge End Farm, which nestles on the plateau between the Irish Sea and the stunning Wasdale Valley in the beautiful Lake District National Park and enjoys a unique natural setting of clover enriched meadows through which the River Irt meanders, unchanged and unspoilt for hundreds of years.

We aim to provide the finest meats, poultry and game at the best prices on the net.

We are also in the Environmentally Sensitive Area Scheme and have recently replanted miles of hedges and dykes so in the fullness of time they will provide a natural habitat for some of England's unique wildlife and birds. Several ponds have already been created attracting wild fowl of all descriptions including, water hens, water rails and even the occasional osprey. The whole combination encourages the return of wildlife of all forms. Wildfowl Lake, one of several created to support water hens, water rails and ospreys'Organic Farming' simply means no chemicals are used in the production of meat. We follow the organic style of farming as the grass is fertilised using the animals' own waste products instead of chemical fertilisers. The abundance of clovers in pastureland and natural meadows provide the goodness the animals need to thrive off. The River Irt is full of natural minerals which are filtered from the mountains of the Wasdale Valley en route to the sea. As it quenches the thirst of our cattle and sheep enables the animals to flourish.

To keep our pastures fresh and succulent our animals are moved every 21 days from field to field. This cycle is done all year round enabling both animals and pastures to grow in a natural, healthy way.

To supplement the animals feed through winter, hay and silage is introduced taken from our natural clover enriched meadows. This supplement feed also contains natural wild herbs which has a medicinal bonus and keeps our animals healthy. It does mean a slower rate of growth for grasses and natural herbs are attained however, this slower rate of growth is a crucial part in producing high quality meat.

Who are we?

The decision to follow a style of organic farming scheme seemed the natural thing to do in the light of the mistrust and uncertainties surrounding the production of meat. We wanted to hark back to a gentler and healthier way of life but with the advantage and convenience of modern technology. No chemical sprays are used to rid the farm of weeds that the animals will not eat, but they are cut by mechanical means
